Kudler Fine Foods started as a small store that grew into a chain. The chain continues to operate as though each store is its own entity trying to maintain a culture similar if not identical to one another. The focus on the advancement of the company is to maintain the culture of the company which originated the success of the first store to allow the growth into the chain status. With this in mind, there will be a need for change internally to allow for consistency. The best example of this would be the b akery that receives the cakes already made, but the decorators ice and add the decorations with requested specifications. (Chase, p. 160) Kudler Fine Foods factors the inventory turnover to measure its supply chain efficiency. The way this is factored is by dividing the cost of goods that are sold by the average aggregated inventory value. The cost of goods sold is the annual cost of the products and services that the store will incur. The average aggregated inventory value is the value of the store’s inventory which is defined by the cost of the goods. Average aggregated inventory includes the raw materials, the work in progress, finished products, and the distribution of inventory which is classified as being owned by the company. Kudler is also able to measure itself with weeks of supply approach. This is calculated by dividing the average aggregated inventory value by the cost of the goods sold and then that number is multiplied by 52 weeks or number of weeks in a year.
